Why you need Bicycle Insurance
Many household insurance policies have limitations when it comes to covering cyclists, their bicycles and their accessories – which is why you need specialist cycling insurance.
Research has shown that one in three household policies don't cover bikes away from home. Even if you have contents insurance, it's likely you'll have to add your bike onto your policy for an extra cost, and even then it probably won't be insured away from home. With specialist cycling insurance, you can rest assured your bike is covered against theft and damage whether you're at home or out and about.
Cycleplan's Public Liability cover will also protect your legal liability if you accidentally injure someone or cause damage to property whilst riding your bike.
What our cycling insurance covers
Our specialist cycling insurance includes Equipment cover, Public Liability and Personal Accident cover plus many other cover options.
Equipment cover means your bike and accessories are protected against theft and accidental damage up to £30,000. With many bikes and accessories costing thousands of pounds, it's surprising many cyclists don't have specialist Equipment cover – especially with many home insurance policies falling short if you're out on a ride.
Public Liability means you're protected if you accidentally injure another person or damage third party property whilst riding your bike. We provide Public Liability cover up to £5m.
Personal Accident cover means you'll be covered if you have a cycling accident that results in permanent disability or death. It also covers physiotherapy, broken bones, hospitalisation and emergency dental expenses that were a result of your cycling accident.
You will instantly be covered for:
- Bicycle cover up to £2,000
- Clothing/accessories cover up to £500;
- Theft of your bicycle at home, away from home or in a vehicle
- Accidental or malicious damage to your bicycle
